We are delighted to have added to the Hyman Collection 75 unique hand-made artist's books by John Blakemore. We are grateful to him for this wonderful donation.
Over the last twenty years artist's books have been a focus of Blakemore's activities. Often based on colour photographs, commercially printed, these works on first sight appear to move on from his earlier equisite black and white darkroom prints. However, in common with his earlier series of landscapes and tulips, these works retain his preoccupation with working in series, combining images, and sequencing the pictures. They are amongst his most remarkable works.
