Welcome to The Hyman Collection. Founded in London in 1996 and now recognised as one of the world’s most significant collections of British photography, the Hyman Collection has grown over thirty years to include more than 30,000 photographs that reflect the breadth, richness and diversity of photography in Britain. It provides an expansive over-view that spans historic and contemporary practice, and documentary as well as conceptual work. Through acquisitions, a touring exhibitions programme for museums and galleries, and the educational role of this website, the Collection is committed to making its holdings and archive accessible to a global audience, and to supporting scholarship, fostering engagement, and deepening appreciation of photography in Britain.
