THE HYMAN FOUNDATION GIVES FINANCIAL SUPPORT FOR COMMUNITY PROGRAMMING BY ARNOLFINI GALLERY, BRISTOL

During 2020-21 we were pleased to give financial support for the community programming of Arnolfini Gallery Bristol. Their Executive Director writes: "Arnolfini has been delighted to work with James and Claire Hyman on two concurrent exhibitions; Jo Spence and A Picture of Health. The exceptional generosity and support of the Hymans through not only the loans of the work but their deep engagement with the exhibition production and their sensitivity and commitment to the purposes of a public institution has been very welcome. Both of the exhibitions have been conceived, curated and produced with high levels of community engagement and co-production at their core from the outset. In particular the opportunity to work with local communities as part of the 'art on referral' health and wellbeing initiative was both inspiring and moving in equal measure as they helped to curate and conceive of the Picture Of Health exhibition. This initiative, alongside a wide range of engagement programmes and online activity, have all illustrated the depth of the Hyman's thinking on the enduring and ongoing importance of art in a community context and the values that will be embedded in the work of the Foundation." Gary Topp, Executive Director, Inaugural Arnolfini Fellow, UWE Bristol.
