This is an image of Margaret Thatcher giving a speech for her prime minister candidacy at the Young Conservatives Conference in 1975. The image is framed with pencil and black and white paint to outline the cropped image which would be used for press publication. There is also one small streak of orange and white paint.
An attached caption on the reverse further explains:
'(LON-6)-EASTBOURNE, ENGLAND-Feb.9-(AP)-- Conservative member of Parliament, Mrs.Margaret Thatcher, one of the two leading contenders in the Conservative Party leadership battle captures during a speech to the Young Conservatives conference at Eastbourne, Feb. 8th. (AP WIREPHOTO er/DEAR/stf) 1975.underneath this caption, someone has written in pencil, '4 and, 'FR Thatch L 4/5ththis note, it is written in dark blue pen:
'1 x 4 THATCHER I + E W/ BRITAIN TEL / E/ A3 10/18/80 PCM.on the reverse is a typed label that reads, 'Thatcher Margaret'.
Additionally, over the label are the earliest and latest of the seven date stamps on the reverse of the photograph. The earliest stamp is stared and for, 'FEB 11 1975 E'. The latest date stamp is for, 'OCT 18 1980 M,' and partly covered by a barcode sticker numbered, 'AFV-882-BS'.
Underneath these stamps and labels there is writing in blue pen, partly revealed to read, 'Special Feature'.
Also, in the upper and lower right corners of the reverse someone has written notes in pencil. The upper note reads, 'AM Edition 2 wide Par lq'. The lower mark states, 'Thatcher 2 col x 4 TelepE/A2/Lm 9-5-77 [crossed out in pencil]'.
Furthermore, the reverse is stamped with the word, 'OTHER'.
