This image shows a triumphant Margaret Thatcher leaving her home the morning after successfully leading a vote of no confidence against James Callaghan's Labour government. The image has been framed with black paint and pencil to prepare a cropped version for press publication.
A caption further explains:
'LONO3902-3/29/79-LONDON-Opposition leader Margaret Thatcher leaves her Chelsea home early 3/29 for the House of Commons.Late 3/28 her vote of no confidence, won by only one vote, forced James Callaghan's Labour government into an early general election. The Prime Minister will ask the Queen 3/29 to dissolve Parliament, and election is expected either late April or early May. UPI DV/B.Smith.the reverse of the photograph there is an attached label reading, 'THATCHER MARGARET'.
Over this label is the first of two date stamps on the reverse. The first date stamp is for, 'MAR 30 1979 M,' and the second is for, MAR 30 AM 4 24'.
Additionally, the reverse has been stamped, 'OTHER'.
Beside this stamp, the reverse has an attached barcode sticker numbered, 'AFV-888-BS'.
