The photographers have explained:
"We chanced upon these interestingly annotated vegetables when we jumped out of the van to buy some hot soup from The Bakery, Aigburth Road on a cold day in Liverpool, one of those days when your fingers are almost too cold to operate a camera. We had often intended to visit, attracted by their signs proclaiming that they refused to sell The Sun. Their shop displays, signage and soup made our day."
