From the edition of 10.

"This photo originates from our Space for 10 residency hosted by Northern Gallery for Contemporary Art, Sunderland and organised by The Art House, Wakefield. We created a new body of work focussing on north east England, a selection of which was exhibited in 2015 at NGCA in an exhibition curated by the gallery's director Alistair Robinson. We discovered this caravan park next to a beautiful sandy golden beach in the seaside resort of Redcar near Middlesbrough in Teesside and Cleveland. The dramatic backdrop provided by the Redcar blast furnace at Teesside Steelworks is in stark contrast to the ordered cream and beige static caravans and the everyday life going on around them. This image is particularly poignant to us now following the closure of the steelworks in 2015 with a devastating effect on the town and its people."
