Although generally referred to as "Trolley Boy", this classic Kurt Hutton is even more intriguing. It shows a child in a supermarket trolley enveloped by household goods. However the abundance of products is surprising given the deprivation of the time. The inscription on the reverse of this vintage print provides additional information and an explanation:
"Amer. [American] baby in U.S. Supermarket (below milk "7 times tested) taken in U.S. Airforce base in Suffolk"
This setting explains the abundance of products and the unfamilarity to a British audience of American brands such as Foulds elbo macaroni , Domino Pure Cane Sugar and Barnum's Animals.
