Mounted vintage exhibition print.
Titled, in pencil, on verso.
Photographer's "Photo Bill Brandt" stamp on verso.
Only two prints known.
This photograph of Battersea Power Station is the actual one reproduced in Brandt's first book, The English at Home (1936), with the title "Twentieth Century Architecture". An emblem of modernity, it followed a plate entitled "Twelfth Century Architecture". This view of the metropolis is anomalous in the book and is one of the most overtly modernist images Brandt ever produced.
