Stamped P.D. Barkshire 30 Aug 1984

'Since this picture was taken, the quays have been demolished and most of the river bank from London Bridge to Tower Bridge has been redeveloped. HMS Belfast, at 11,500 tons, the largest cruiser class warship built by Britain, took part in the sinking of the German battle cruiser Scharnhorst and opened the bombardment on D Day. It's the only British Second World War warship to be preserved. Unfortunately no First World War warships have been preserved by America, Russia and Japan. Taken with the 375mm lens.' Paul Barkshire.
