Stamped P.D. Barkshire 3 Aug 1986

'These houses were built at the beginning of the eighteenth century. The great advantage of view cameras for architectural photography, besides the detail from the large format, is the camera movements. By raising the lens the back of the camera can be kept level to avoid converging verticals. The covering power of each lens determines to what extent the camera movements can be used. For this picture the lens was raised so high that the top corners are outside the circle of good definition but I was more interested in the overall look of the picture than the details.' Paul Barkshire.
