Kennard was commissioned by the Greater London Council (GLC) to make a series of 18 posters as part of its Nuclear Policy Unit's anti-nuclear campaign. The original series of Target London was shown at County Hall entitled Despatches from an Unofficial War Artist to introduce the GLC's Peace Year in 1983. The combination of photomontage and text sends a bold message about the threat and absurdity of nuclear war in the 1980s.
Target London is included in the permanent collections of the Imperial War Museum and the Victoria & Albert Museum.
