Since becoming a Crown Colony in 1834, St Helena has seen 35 Governors living in Plantation House (November 2013).
A giant tortoise called Jonathan lives in the front garden of Plantation House. Reportedly he is 180 years old, and has met every governor since arriving on the island in 1882.
