Signed recto, below image lower right; stamped verso "Bill Brandt."
A print of this work in the collection of MoMA, New York is catalogued as "Belgravia, London, 1953".
This negative was printed in two different ways by Brandt. In some prints he inverts the image so that the mirror is to our right and in some it is to the left. Brandt also changed the way in which he printed it. In some prints the strip of background, to our left in this image, is not graduated (lower part dark, upper part lighter) but is uniformerly dark, presumably in an attempt to make the hand holding the top of the mirror appear even more dramatic.
