Inscribed on the reverse: "Harold Wilson at Rag Market, B'Ham, 1966". Also with "Paul Hill" stamps verso.

This photograph depicts a notoriously unruly public meeting at the Rag Market, Birmingham. Prime Minister Harold Wilson's appearance took place during the General Election campaign, the result of which was Wilson winning power for a second term of office.

The event received remarkably contrasting press coverage depending on the newspaper's political orientation. The Labour supporting The Worker declared "Wilson gets the better of Tory Hecklers", whilst the Conservative supporting Daily Sketch stated the opposite: "Hecklers get the better of Wilson."
