Peter Kennard is one of Britain's longest-standing and most influential activist artists.
Born in London in 1949 Kennard started out as a painter but turned his attention to the creation of photomontages and installation work in the 1970s, believing that such modes of expression offered him a better way of uniting art and politics and of reaching the widest possible audience. John Berger has since dubbed Kennard a 'master of the medium' of photomontage.
