Chris Shaw's artistic practice comprises photo books, exhibitions, and hand-printed archive prints.
Born in 1961, Chris Shaw is a black and white photographer who believes in communicating an expressionist feeling between viewer and subject. He has lived in Paris since 2009. Shaw studied Photography at WSCAD from 1986-89 with Martin Parr and Paul Graham but pursued his artistic metier in black and white while working as a night porter in London hotels. Finally his perseverance paid off: Life as a Night Porter was published in 2005, which has since been exhibited worldwide.
