Markéta Luskačová is a Czech-born photographer and one of the major figures in British photography of the last forty years.

Markéta Luskačová started photographing London's markets in 1974. In the markets of Portobello Road, Brixton and Spitalfields, she "[found] a vivid Dickensian staging". In 2016 she self-published a collection of photographs of street musicians, mostly taken in the markets of east London, under the title To Remember - London Street Musicians 1975-1990, and with an introduction by John Berger.

Markéta Luskačová first went to North East England in 1976 when visiting photographer Chris Killip, who at that time lived there.  She fell in love with Whitley Bay, and with the people there who, in spite of the harsh weather, enjoyed their time at the seaside. Her pictures from the mid 1970s of these beaches would become some of her most celebrated images.
